LUCERNA
The Lucerna Dress was born out of my first experiments with laser cutting. She is inspired by the collapsible geometry of paper lanterns. The segments expand and contract to mimic the intervals of the human body. I have sculpted a silhouette to augment the human machine and its planes.
THE FEATURE
As part of Pratt Institute’s presence at NASDAQ’s Opening Bell Ceremony during New York Climate Week, one of my sustainable footwear designs was featured in the official announcement coverage. I’m honored to have my work recognized in this context, among peers and faculty pushing the boundaries of what sustainable design can look like today.
RE. COLLECTION
Many religions and cultures consider the ground sacred, a source of energy. Many believe that energy from the Earth enters your body through the ground. "rough the last few decades, scientists have been discovering the Earth is more alive than we ever imagined. The dirt is filled with an unimaginable amount of microorganisms, plants communicate with one another, and trees form bonds. These shoes are a visual representation of that energy entering your body, a reminder to the wearer that they are not just a resident of this world, but a part of it. We can only begin to think of sustainability when we understand our part in the world.
